About the Designer

The Bold Sheep designs are produced by textile artist, Louise Ellwood. Louise comes from a background of interior and fashion design. After several years studying and working within the design industry, she was finally able to fulfil her life long dream and set up her own business - The Bold Sheep was born!

People often ask where the name for the business came from, "I wanted a name which would be relevant to what I was producing. I also wanted something which would be fun and original and which would indicate the quirky nature of the designs I produce. After a few glasses of wine and some very silly suggestions, my husband, David, and I came up with the Bald Sheep, meaning all its wool had been taken to make the design. We then decided the Bold Sheep would be more appropriate, given the style of my designs. We didn't think a logo of a naked sheep would be very appropriate either!"

Louise's feel for colour and quirky sense of humour combine to create a wonderful range of needlework kits. "I hope you like my designs, I hope they make you smile and most of all I hope you really enjoy stitching them".

The company is run from the beautiful village of Silverdale in North Lancashire!
